Oil To Go

Ads that keep working when the pixel is blocked

Mobile oil change in Cedar Rapids. The site is fast because there is almost nothing to it, and the advertising keeps learning: conversions are reported from the server, so a blocked browser pixel does not quietly push the cost per lead up month after month.

The problem

A local service business lives or dies on paid social. Browser-side pixels are increasingly blocked, which means the ad platform stops learning who converts and the cost per lead climbs.

What got built

Hand-written HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with no build step, so the whole site is fast because there is almost nothing to it. One Vercel serverless function posts conversion events to the Meta Conversions API from the server, so the signal reaches the ad account whether or not the browser pixel fired.

Details worth naming

  • Zero-dependency static site: no framework, no build step, no runtime to keep patched.
  • Server-side Meta conversion tracking through a Vercel function, resilient to browser-level blocking.
  • Built alongside a documented Facebook ad creative program for the same business.
